Our resident parrot Bert is a Yellow nape Amazon that the inn inherited. Born in the early 1970’s, Bert was named Bertram after her previous owner’s boat, the Bertram. After 12 years of being at the inn Bert laid an egg and we quickly renamed her Roberta. She is a well-loved GIRL! You can find her at the front desk at times or in the lobby perched on one of our staff members. She welcomes many guests with a “Hello” or a “how are you doing? “and wishes them a fond farewell at checkout time with “bye Bert” and a wave.. She whistles Pop goes the weasel when she hears the vacuum cleaner. When a dog enters the lobby Bert will “bark ferociously” to defend her territory. She has many fans, receives a good amount of human interaction daily, and can’t resist fresh blueberries and peanuts!
